We like to think that veterans come home safe from war and simply blend back into society.

It has been estimated that more than 65% of Vets returning from Iraq/Afghanistan without realizing it suffer from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)  from being near an exploding Improvised Explosive Device (IED), aka "bomb".

The reality is that many war veterans who have made huge sacrifices to defend our country spend the rest of their lives trying to recover from their wounds.

One veteran said he could handle the physical pain and scars but the loneliness of being forgotten is the hardest part of it all.

We do not want forgotten the sacrifices these deserving men and women made once they come home from active duty. VA hospitals are full of these brave men and women.  It is our goal to make sure that no veteran, from any war, ever feels forgotten.

YOUR HELP IS DESPERATELY NEEDED!

Oklahoma American Veterans News, (OAVN), is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of Veterans by providing ongoing support. OAVN, provides for a Veterans "greatest need". At any time that need might be a bus ticket to the hospital, a meal for an outpatient who doesn't have the funds or personal care items for someone in the VA hospital.

OAVN's current projects include needed items for hospitalized Veterans, bananas and raisins for Veterans who have fasted the night before tests at the clinic,  Feeding Hungry Little Tummies Coupon Project...which has now expanded to help Veterans and other military personnel.

Please read about our other projects.

In the fall of 2009, OAVN made the decision to contact past donors by mail, saving on phone and office expenses. However, the numerous requests for help that we are receiving has made it necessary that we use the phone to contact donors of this ever increasing need.

Maybe you want to help with purchasing items, but simply don't have the time to shop and drop off items. Volunteers at Oklahoma American Veterans News (OAVN) can purchase the items for you, if you wish to contribute through PayPal.

 Any amount is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for joining us in recognizing and honoring the wonderful men and women who have served, and are currently serving, our country.
